Rebecca Peterson – Girls Coach
Rebecca Peterson is a growth-minded coach who believes basketball is about more than just the final score. While she enjoys competing and winning, she places a greater emphasis on hard work, focus, effort, and the life lessons the game provides. Her coaching philosophy centers on developing mental toughness, perseverance, and confidence while helping athletes reach their full potential.
Rebecca played girls basketball in the 1990s for Rochester John Marshall traveling teams through the varsity level, competing against top programs including Rochester Mayo—featuring future WNBA players Coco and Kelly Miller—and Lourdes. One of her favorite memories from her playing days was winning the 9th Grade B State Championship and attending overnight basketball camps at Gustavus Adolphus College.
She rediscovered her passion for the game in 2023 while watching the NCAA Women’s Championship between Caitlin Clark’s Iowa team and Angel Reese’s LSU squad. Since then, Rebecca has immersed herself in studying the modern game and focuses on teaching pace, skill development, spacing, and team play.
Rebecca has coached youth basketball with Our Lady of Peace School, Minneapolis Lakers traveling basketball, and as an assistant coach with Takeover AAU. She enjoys studying successful women’s college and Minnesota high school programs to bring new ideas back to her teams.
Rebecca lives in Minneapolis with her husband Drew and their daughter Georgia. Outside of basketball, she works in the tech industry as a Software Development Manager.

Aleksia (Leksi) Tollefson – Girls Coach
Aleksia “Leksi” Tollefson is entering her fifth year of coaching and her second season with Takeover. She is currently a senior at the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities and will graduate this May with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management, summa cum laude, along with a minor in Communication Studies.
Leksi has been involved in sports since the age of four and began playing basketball when she was eight. Her passion for the game naturally grew into a passion for coaching, and she has experience working with athletes ranging from Pre-K all the way through high school seniors. She loves helping young athletes build confidence, develop their skills, and experience the excitement of reaching their goals both on and off the court.
Her coaching philosophy focuses on creating a positive and inclusive environment where athletes feel supported and motivated to grow. Leksi emphasizes encouragement, teamwork, and accountability while using basketball as a platform to teach life skills such as resilience, confidence, and strong work habits. She strives to ensure that every athlete leaves the season not only as a better player, but also with greater confidence and a strong team-first mindset.

John Langins – Girls Coach
John Langins brings over 20 years of coaching experience and a strong passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the court. His coaching philosophy centers around three core principles: commitment to your team, improvement as a player, and becoming a better person. John emphasizes playing together as a cohesive unit while encouraging athletes to refine their individual skills and grow in the classroom, their community, and their personal lives.
John lives in Hutchinson, Minnesota with his wife, Amanda, and their three daughters. In addition to coaching, he has spent the past 18 years working as a 5th grade teacher, where he has gained extensive experience supporting the academic and personal development of young students.
He began his coaching career in college at the middle school level and has since coached a variety of boys and girls teams. After moving to Hutchinson 13 years ago, John coached boys basketball at the JV level for nine years and later served two seasons as the Varsity Head Coach. More recently, he transitioned to coaching girls basketball and currently serves as the JV Girls Basketball Coach in Hutchinson.
John believes character development begins with leadership and example. By modeling accountability, teamwork, and resilience, he strives to create an environment built on trust, mutual respect, and a team-first mentality where athletes can grow both as players and as people.

Alex Engrav – Girls Coach
Alex Engrav is entering his second year of coaching and brings a strong passion for helping athletes grow both on and off the court. His coaching philosophy focuses on providing encouragement and leadership so players can develop their skills, build confidence, and succeed in all areas of life.
Alex played basketball from age five through college, including two years at the MSHSL varsity level and two years competing at the NCAA Division III level. His playing experience gives him a strong understanding of the dedication, teamwork, and work ethic required to succeed in the game.
Alex began his coaching career in 2025 with Takeover Hoops, where he coached 6th and 7th grade boys. He continued coaching this past winter as the Assistant Varsity Coach for the Lester Prairie girls basketball program, while also leading the JV team.
As a coach, Alex focuses on creating a positive environment built on strong attitude, effort, and energy. He believes encouragement plays a key role in building confidence and character, and he works to ensure every athlete feels supported while being challenged to grow as both a player and a person.

Kenny McGee – Girls Coach
Kenny McGee serves as the Head Girls Basketball Coach and a Physical Education Teacher at Eagle Ridge Academy. With a strong passion for education and athletics, Kenny is dedicated to helping student-athletes grow both on and off the court.
As a coach, Kenny focuses on building a culture centered on discipline, teamwork, and accountability. He believes basketball is a powerful platform for teaching life lessons such as leadership, resilience, and confidence. His approach emphasizes skill development, strong fundamentals, and a team-first mindset while creating an environment where players feel supported and motivated to reach their full potential.
In the classroom and the gym, Kenny works to inspire students to lead healthy, active lifestyles and to develop habits that promote long-term success. His combined role as a teacher and coach allows him to positively impact student-athletes in multiple areas of their lives, helping them grow not only as basketball players but also as students and leaders in their communities.

Terry Andrews – Boys Coach
Terry Andrews is entering his second year of coaching and brings a lifelong passion for the game of basketball. A former player at Blaine High School, Terry developed his love for the game at an early age and continues to enjoy sharing that passion by teaching and mentoring young athletes.
Terry began his coaching career at St. Paul Academy, where he coached the 7th grade girls basketball team to an impressive 15–2 record. His experience working with young athletes has helped him develop a coaching style centered around communication, support, and player development.
As a coach, Terry prides himself on being approachable and supportive. He encourages his players to communicate openly and knows that growth often comes from working through challenges together. By listening to his athletes and supporting their development, Terry focuses on helping players build confidence, strengthen their skills, and grow into well-rounded teammates and competitors.

Chandra Hall – Boys Coach
Chandra Hall brings more than 27 years of coaching experience and a deep passion for developing athletes at every level of the game. Throughout her career, she has coached developmental, traveling, AAU, and high school basketball, helping countless players grow both on and off the court.
Chandra believes success in basketball should not be measured solely by wins and losses, but by the growth athletes make from the beginning of the season to the end. Her coaching philosophy focuses on continuous improvement, effort, and helping players reach their full potential as teammates and individuals.
She also places a strong emphasis on team culture and relationships. Chandra believes that building strong bonds and respect among teammates away from the court helps create stronger trust, communication, and teamwork during competition. Through this approach, she works to create a positive environment where athletes can develop confidence, leadership, and a true team-first mindset

Kyle Gillund – Boys Coach
Kyle Gillund believes basketball is a powerful tool for building disciplined, resilient young men. His coaching philosophy centers on developing players both on and off the court, helping them grow as competitors, teammates, and leaders.
With 10 years of experience coaching high school boys basketball, Coach Gillund has dedicated his career to fostering the growth and development of others. His approach emphasizes accountability, teamwork, and perseverance, creating an environment where players learn to face challenges and improve every day.
Outside of coaching, Kyle works as a Licensed Social Worker at a men’s substance use treatment center, where he helps individuals navigate personal growth, responsibility, and positive life changes. His professional background strengthens his ability to mentor athletes beyond the game and guide them in building strong character.
Kyle holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University of North Dakota and brings a unique combination of coaching experience and professional insight to player development.
Coach Gillund focuses on building character through clear standards, daily accountability, and honest feedback. He teaches athletes to handle adversity the right way, prioritize the team, and take pride in doing hard things together.

Michael Poncelet – Boys Coach
Michael Poncelet believes basketball is a powerful vessel for teaching the skills young people need to succeed in all areas of life. His coaching philosophy centers on developing character, accountability, and leadership through the game.
Coach Poncelet was a three-sport athlete at Walker-Hackensack-Akeley High School before continuing his education at the University of Minnesota Duluth, where he earned a minor in coaching. He later attended Hamline University School of Law, adding a strong academic and professional background to his coaching experience.
He began his coaching career in the Mounds View Traveling program, working his way up from 6th grade to 8th grade before advancing to the Freshman team at Mounds View, B Squad at Centennial, and JV at Irondale. In 2013, he earned his first head coaching position at Staples-Motley High School. Coach Poncelet has also coached at the collegiate level, working in the MIAC with Macalester College and in the NSIC with Bemidji State University.
He currently serves as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at New Ulm High School.
Outside of coaching, Michael is an attorney and due process coordinator, and he is the founder of an NIL education business that helps families navigate the complexities of NIL contracts, laws, and eligibility.
Coach Poncelet focuses on building strong character by setting clear expectations, maintaining high standards, and modeling the behaviors and values he wants young athletes to develop.

Wyndell Doe – Boys Coach
Wyndell Doe believes that success in basketball—and in life—comes from trusting and believing in the process. His coaching philosophy focuses on long-term player development, emphasizing fundamentals, basketball IQ, leadership, and mental toughness.
A former high school basketball player, Coach Doe currently coaches AAU basketball and high school football, bringing a valuable multi-sport perspective to athlete development. He focuses on teaching players how to prepare, compete, and lead while creating an environment where athletes can grow and enjoy the game.
Coach Doe is committed to helping young student-athletes develop both on and off the court. His goal is to guide players through the process of growth by strengthening their skills, mindset, and academic focus so they are prepared for high school basketball and beyond.
He builds character by establishing clear standards, consistent accountability, and strong daily habits. By modeling composure, responsibility, and a team-first mindset, Coach Doe teaches athletes that trusting the process—especially when results are not immediate—builds discipline, resilience, and maturity. His approach helps players understand that basketball is not just about winning games, but about developing habits and character that will benefit them throughout life.

Windell Boyd – AAU Coach
Windell Boyd is a passionate and energetic coach who focuses on teaching the fundamentals and knowledge of basketball the right way. With over seven years of AAU coaching experience, he is committed to helping young athletes develop the skills and confidence needed to reach the next level.
Coach Boyd creates a high-energy training environment where practices are intense, engaging, and fun. His approach combines skill development, game knowledge, and competitive training while maintaining a positive atmosphere for players to learn and grow. He also emphasizes building a family-oriented team culture, where parents and supporters are welcome to observe and be part of the development process.
Character development is a key focus in Coach Boyd’s program. He works closely with players and fellow coaches to create opportunities for growth by encouraging teamwork, accountability, and learning from mistakes. During practices, he often rotates players across teams during scrimmages to help them adapt, communicate, and compete with different teammates.
Coach Boyd believes mistakes are valuable teaching moments. He frequently pauses practice to demonstrate the correct technique or decision, helping players better understand the game while continuing to build confidence. Above all, he ensures that players are learning, improving, and enjoying the game of basketball.
